Acupuncture for General Wellbeing

Acupuncture has been used as therapy for over 2000 years.  Blocked energy flow occurs for myriad reasons. This may disrupt health and balance, resulting in pain or illness. By stimulating specific points along meridians, the energy is regulated and optimal health & balance can be restored.

The World Health Organization (WHO) defines health as “a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity”. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) embodies this definition, by approaching health holistically.

Acupuncture can help you feel more calm, balanced, positive and clear. It helps shift emotional and physical blockages, creating space for health, wellness and abundance.

Conditions treated with Acupuncture:

Psychological conditions such as anxiety, nervousness, stress, depression, mood swings, emotional disturbances, smoking and other addictions.

Digestive disorders such as constipation, haemorrhoids, IBS, diarrhoea, reflux, nausea, decreased or strong appetite and bloating.

Musculoskeletal disorders such as neck, shoulder and lower back pain, sciatica, carpal tunnel syndrome, RSI, frozen shoulder and tennis elbow.  Musculoskeletal conditions get great results with a combination of cupping and acupuncture.

Neurological conditions such as headaches, migraines, nervous tension and difficulty sleeping.

Respiratory conditions such as sore throats, coughs, congestion, hay fever, sinusitis and the common cold and flu.

Women’s Health issues such as difficulties with menopause (e.g. hot flushes and insomnia), PCOS, endometriosis, irregular menstruation, hormonal imbalances, amenorrhoea (no period), pre-menstrual symptoms (mood swings, pain, bloating, breast tenderness etc),  preparation for labour & induction.

Skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, pigmentation, shingles, acne and scars.

Fertility Acupuncture

em_mon_fertility_acupuncture_sydney_innerwest.jpg

Fertility Acupuncture treatment fosters the optimum environment to nurture a successful pregnancy and produce a healthy baby.

Acupuncture is an effective and safe treatment method. It can boost Qi (energy), support internal organs, balance meridians, and calm the mind.

Fertility acupuncture treatments help clear emotional or physical blockages, thereby enhancing your overall health, well-being and chances of conceiving.

To grow a garden, you need to have nutrient-rich soil, sunlight, and water to produce healthy plants. If you attempt to grow seeds without these elements it is unlikely that they will grow or thrive.

Having regular acupuncture sessions is like 'preparing the soil' or uterine lining to be thick and nutrient rich. When the time comes it’s much more likely your fertilised embryo will embed and flourish.

Seven Fertility Boosting Benefits of Acupuncture:

  1. Reduces stress, which regulates hormones.

  2. Regulates the menstrual cycle and ovulation, making family planning easier.

  3. Improves blood flow to ovaries, thereby increasing ovarian response.

  4. Improves ovarian function, which encourages production of follicles & enhances egg quality.

  5. Increases blood flow to the uterus, encouraging a thicker endometrial lining, which enhances the chances of successful implantation.

  6. Lessens adverse side effects from hormonal treatments.

  7. Helps prevent miscarriage and increases your chances of producing a live birth and healthy baby.

When Should You Use Acupuncture for fertility?

Healthy baby assisted with Emma Quine's natural fertility acupuncture treatments

Thinking about preconception care? It’s best to start preparing now. The follicles growth phase begins around 90 days before the egg is released. Due to this, weekly treatments are recommended, three to four months prior to conception or commencement of an IVF/ICSI/IUI. This may assist to prepare the uterine lining, balance hormones, reduce anxiety and give your body the best chance of producing good quality eggs. Depending on your individual diagnosis, treatment frequency varies. Even if you can’t start treatments 90-120 days before, acupuncture can still have a positive effect on your fertility.

If you are undergoing an assisted IVF / ICSI cycle, additional treatments are recommended:

  1. After egg collection, to reduce any local tissue trauma, or bleeding; and help to prepare a calm environment for the arrival of your precious embryo.

  2. Before transfer, to calm the mind and circulate nutrient rich blood to the uterus.

  3. After transfer, to reduce uterine cramping, reduce anxiety, increase chance of embryo implantation, and a successful pregnancy.

  4. Weekly after transfer, to calm the mind, reduce anxiety and support your developing embryo.

If your conception is unsuccessful you may wish to continue with weekly treatments until your next assisted cycle or conception attempt. If you have a successful pregnancy, weekly acupuncture until week 12-13 is recommended.

Pregnancy acupuncture can help nourish your developing embryo. It may reduce morning sickness and anxiety, and the chance of miscarriage. It supports energy production, and so much more.

I’m a qualified and passionate Fertile Life practitioner, and I’m here to support you on your journey to parenthood. My mission is to help get you closer to holding your healthy baby in your arms. xx
